Visit to the North Pole!

Our kind friends, The Mogensen's invited us over for a VIP meet and greet with the big man himself. We enjoyed some tasty chili, good friends, and amazing from scratch peppermint ice cream cake. The kids were so excited to see Santa... very fun! Thanks Tom, Laura, Alice and Santa... what a great night! HO-HO-HO!

Turkey Day...

We are truly grateful for our family and friends. We enjoyed a scrumptious turkey feast, in the "shop" where a healthy round of poker went until 1am the night before and where live music is played every week at guitar Wednesday! Our family agrees... the simplest things are the best! Thank you dad, for hosting a fantastic Thanksgiving. Uncle Todd got some good cuds' (also known as cuddles) from Fletch.

When we returned home for the weekend mom got to go on a wine tour with the neighborhood. (5th & O'Farrell Rocks!) We tasted some decent Idaho wines (Try Williamsons Pinot when you get a chance.) I got home just in time for Barry and I to walk Fletch down to the Grove for the tree lighting. Tis' the season....

6 Month Milestones

It's been a big couple of weeks for the Fletch man. We are now rolling, have two bottom teeth, eating solids, and sitting in a high chair. Oh the excitement. I'll spare you the poop description details... (Am I in Mommy Land or what?) I think I need a girls night out. :)

Obama Elected!

"We are the change we've been waiting for."
- Barack Obama

It's amazing to witness history... All things are possible!
Wahooooooooo! It's time for this CHANGE!

No matter who loses... we all win!

I feel lucky that we have the privilege to vote today! Some of us may disagree on who should be our next president... but let's not lose sight of the best news... No more Bush! We can all celebrate!

And as G.W. would say... "Strategery!"

Fletchers First (Stinky) Halloween!

Happy Birthday Roxy & Happy Halloween!
Fletch was a little stinker and dressed up as a skunk. Grandpa Kirk, Barry, Lisa and I all wore shirts that said "It wasn't me!"
We took Stinky to the famous Harrison Blvd. where nearly 3,000 trick-or-treaters roam! We stopped off at Kristen & Tim's house to help hand out candy... HOLY cow! I would guess $500 worth of candy being passed out at each house! Luckily the big kids had a cocktail and Fletch decided he could hold his dad's beer for him.

Before and Happier....

Today Fletcher turned 6 months old. I find myself being unusually melancholy. I am sad it's gone by so quickly and I can't believe he is already so big. As I scrolled through photos of the last six months, I smiled in amazement.

I then ran across photos from the last few years. I guess the best part was looking back and remembering what an amazing time Barry and I have had together over the last 9 years. I could compile all the fun and it still wouldn't compare to the excitement we have felt over the past 6 months. We feel so blessed to have this beautiful boy. Thanks little Fletchie... you are truly a gift!

Simply put, we are just happier.

Baby's First Oktoberfest! - PROST!

ROAD TRIP! - We headed to Leavenworth, Washington this weekend and after nearly 20 hours of driving (breast feeding stops can really throw a cramp in your style) we thought we'd remind Fletcher why it was worth being strapped in a car seat and listening to mom and dad sing "WE ARE FAMILY".... for so long...

Reason #1 - To get back in shape after baby... it was originally to run the first half marathon I've ever signed up for... (which I DIDN'T do! - Run or get back in shape - but I did sign up and have a poser shirt to prove it.) Ha!

Reason #2 - To see spend time with great friends! Kim my friend from Seattle & her family! And great friends and their families...Blaire and Candice from Boise.

Reason #3 for me but Reason #1 for Barry -
Oktoberfest in a Bavarian Village! After 950 miles, Barry was in need of a beer!

Reason #4 - To get Fletcher his first Christmas ornament.

Cousin's Unite!

We spent the weekend in Phoenix where Fletcher got to meet his cousin Patrick who is 6 days his senior. The boys wasted no time with small talk. They dove into some big topics right out of the gate. After some trash talk about Sarah Palin it was time to cool off in the Arizona heat. Yowza!

In all seriousness, it was great to get Barry's side of the family all together. We celebrated Patrick's Christening and Barry was excited to be his Godfather. Shawn and Anne were great hosts, while Katy and John kept us entertained all weekend! Grandma Cheri was in her element as usual.

Mini Me & all the Hoopla!

Poor Fletcher... until he can learn how to walk and talk, he is stuck posing in our stupid pictures. This weekend we took a "head" shot of Barry and Fletcher. (I think the photo speaks for itself.) And last weekend we went to the Hyde Park Hippie Fest and Momma got a new Hula Hoop! I've been looking for a handmade Hula Hoop for 2 years and finally found one! Fletch hung on for the ride! Weeeeee... and who says I need wine to be fun! We got drunk on scones from Merit's Cafe!

Fletch's New Favorite Song!

Fletch started a music class last week and so far is really enjoying it. I have to say - I'm happy he is learning the "classics" (Old McDonald, etc... ) But I could tell he wanted to shake things up a bit. I think we've found something better... Check out Feist on Sesame Street! Fletch loves it when I sing him this song!

Redfish Lake, Idaho

Spent the weekend at Redfish and took in the always stunning Sawtooth Mountains. We celebrated our friends - Shannon and Kacey's wedding... Talk about a breathtaking setting and a beautiful ceremony.

Fletch was given the nick name "Party Baby" and he loved every minute. Both Barry & I have the most incredible childhood memories at Redfish Lake and we couldn't have been more excited to share it with Fletch! SWEET!

It's OFFICIALLY Football Season and Fletcher has submitted to becoming a Cowboys fan! (Barry has given him no choice.) But it all turned out nicely. Fletch was happy to see the Cowboys whoop it up today and brought his game face. TOUCHDOWN!

Tell Yo' Mamma - VOTE Obama!

I love teaching children. :>

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

It was a weekend of 1st's in Coeur d'Alene.

What a great weekend, my mom got my her entire brood together for the 1st time this year!
So many great 1st's, I have to list them...

Fletcher went by air and by boat for the 1st time, while Barry and my brother Todd drove around looking like they were on a 1st date. 7 year old cousin Dax disappeared in his Batman pajamas and showed up back up at the house with a 2 and a half pound Bass that he caught all by himself for the 1st time. Uncle Todd did the dished for the 1st time. Grandma Judy saw the "right side of the glass" for the 1st time, and Aunt Amy didn't eat the last brownie for the 1st time! Cousin Riley took 1st the BMX state tourney! Little 1.5 year old Eden said Fletcher's name for the 1st time... she calls him Fletchie. (I also taught her to say Obama!) I'm sure there were other 1st's but I'm most excited that this won't be our last weekend together! Lots of laughs and tons of love!
Every day I wake up and feel so excited to have such a healthy baby boy... I honestly can't believe that I could love him any more than I do... and then suddenly, I wake up and realize each day that I love him more than the day before! Talk about euphoria!

Thanks 4 VISITING!

We Love our Family!! Here are a few pics of Fletcher's new fans.

Our family has been so wonderful and supportive... Thanks to all of you for pouring on your love and taking the trip to love on our little man.
Grandma Cheri has been spoiling him with love! She loves to sit on the front porch and play with him... Cousin Dax keeps Fletch busting a gut! He's a great entertainer! Fletcher does some back surfing on Grandpa Kirk!
Lisa got Fletch all to herself, while the rest of us floated the Boise River! Kim from Seattle came and spent a few days with us but for some reason, the only photo I have of her is with a huge sandwich. (inside joke).

Fletch is 3.5 months old and can't get enough of his loving family!!
